Columnar Activated Carbon For Desulfurization And Denitrification of Flue gas

Columnar activated carbon can be used for both desulfurization and denitrification processes, where it is used as an adsorbent to remove sulfur-containing compounds and nitrogen oxides from gas streams. The activated carbon is packed into a column or vessel, and the gas to be treated is passed through the column, allowing the pollutants to be adsorbed onto the surface of the activated carbon.

In desulfurization applications, columnar activated carbon is effective at removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from gas streams. The sulfur-containing compounds are adsorbed onto the surface of the activated carbon, reducing their concentration in the gas stream.

In denitrification applications, columnar activated carbon can be used to remove nitrogen oxides (NOx) from gas streams. The activated carbon is impregnated with certain chemicals, such as alkali metals or alkaline earth metals, which can react with the nitrogen oxides and convert them into nitrogen gas.

Columnar activated carbon is a cost-effective and efficient method for removing both sulfur-containing compounds and nitrogen oxides from gas streams. It is widely used in industries such as power generation, cement production, and chemical processing to reduce emissions and meet regulatory requirements.
